In games there is a consistent natural level of mapping that occurs. Controls throughout consoles and level design rules start to come up. Moving to the right in side scrollers almost always means progression. Shooting in a FPS is almost always done with the Right Trigger, and is always done with a left click on PC. Attacking in a third person action game is always done with either the left face button or the right bumper, but always the left bumper is block, and another face button is dodge.
It is these natural mappings we can learn from to build more familiar games, and engage our players in more meaningful ways.
