Build an exercise based off of the communication - clarity section of the basics of communications lecture taught during intro to gamedev and mobile gaming at Pratt so that students can more effectively devise what they mean for their own vocabulary together as a team building exercise
What is a grey box? What is a blockmesh? How do they differ?
Have students build vocabulary in their own teams to come up with specific meanings associated with their needs broadly, like what do you call a level design, a drawing that is unfinished, something that you are using as a basis for artwork, etc
Then have them come up with the same vocabulary for the game they’re working on - what is a level? What is an area? What is a power or ability of the player? Etc
After teams work in bubbles to do this exercise, have them now come and present their phrases. See if there are any differences in what people say, what is the same, and what is the same but has different meaning.
